Welcome back to the new 8A 2023/24. I hope you are all looking forward to a new school year. It was lovely seeing all the children returning with smiles on their faces.

Our first week has been a nice chilled one, easing the learners (and staff) gently back into a school routine.

On our first day, we enjoyed hearing all about the activities the learners had done over the holiday period.

As the weather has been so nice, 8A team thought it would be nice to enjoy the bikes. The learners really enjoyed themselves. Fantastic skills shown in riding scooters and either a two or three wheelers bikes.

The class also enjoyed our first Food Technology activity as a year 8 pupil. The learners all followed a step by step recipe on how to make “Oatmeal Cookies”.  Their weighing skills were amazing, managing not being under or over with the ingredients needed.  They showed our school values throughout the lesson, showing kindness and respect for each other.

The end result smelt and tasted delicious. Some of the learners chose the Oatmeal Cookies for their afternoon snack and, of course staff had to test them out too and we can definitely all say they were yummy.

Whilst Miss Robertson is out of class every Thursday morning preparing her amazing activities for 8A this school year, we have Miss Troughton ( Miss T) who will deliver My Creativity. This half term Miss T will be looking at Dance. We did a little Minecraft run work out to get our hearts beating. And yes, staff joined in too (which left them with red, hot faces).

Miss T also put the class in small groups where they played board games. We played Snakes and Ladders, Hangman and Heads Up. All the staff were very impressed with their abilities to do good turn taking and good waiting whilst playing.

See you next Thursday morning Miss T.

We have had a small change of staffing this week. Mrs Cheetham has moved to another class, but we are still happy to see her on the playground and say hello.

We now have Miss McPartlin, and the learners have made her feel really welcome.

Welcome Miss McPartlin from all of us.
