9A continue to work hard on their termly topic To Infinity and Beyond. This week we have completed our planets to make our own solar system. We have had lots of compliments on our final display. We made model rockets and aliens in My Creativity. This lead to a discussion about whether aliens really existed! Everyone had different ideas and opinions but were respectful of each others thoughts. We worked on writing our own Haiku poems all about space, planets, stars and the moon. You can read some of them in the pictures. We hope you enjoy them
The weather was a challenge on our visit to Haigh Hall but it didn’t stop our visit going ahead. Tuesday afternoon was our dance session in PE. Mrs Stubbs is really enjoying these lessons and is very enthusiastic when joining in.
We returned to Hindley for our swimming lessons where Paula really challenged us and had everyone jumping into the deep end. She was super impressed with everyone and asked the teachers to give all the learners a star on their return to school.
Thursday saw us shopping for our ingredients for our cooking and nutrition lesson. This week we are cooking with raspberries from Miss Bentham’s mum’s garden. This has helped keep our shopping bill down a little. The learners are being encouraged to problem solve more with the teachers stepping back. It’s great to see them giving each other tips to find their items.
Cooking and Nutrition this week we have made, low fat raspberry brownies and raspberry oat fingers. We still have some of the cakes in school as it was a bit too gooey to send home.
Our Star of the Week this week is Jake for great problem solving, mental maths whilst shopping and making a great effort with his reading assessment. Well done Jake.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
