Chestnut Class’s theme this week was all about ‘Diwali and toys’. We have worked so hard again challenging ourselves learning numbers by singing songs. Developing our writing skills through mark making. Looking at different shapes and sorting big / little cars or putting cars on, under or next to.
To celebrate Diwali we enjoyed watching Miss Troughton’s attention autism showing us all how to make a fabulous colourful fireworks display using cotton wool soaked in paint and throwing them at black card. Then we had a go too using printing painted tubes onto paper with a sprinkle glitter to make them sparkly.
We all did fantastic listening and really enjoyed our new story called ‘That’s not my car’, learning about all the different parts of the vehicle and feeling all the different textures was great fun too! Some of us even made our very own car models out of paper plates decorating them with paint following instructions to use glue and to stick on windows and wheels. They all looked amazing, great work everyone!
Afterwards Miss Heaton was very kind and helped us draw a massive road on the classroom floor out of tape and chalk. Then we used the toy cars to follow the arrows round the road taking turns with our friends. This was so much fun and can’t wait to do it again soon!
Whilst doing fantastic exploring with all of our lovely activities we have been focusing on being kind to our friends and doing brilliant sharing too.
Congratulations to our ‘star of the week’ this week Alex for helping around the classroom doing lots of jobs and for using his ‘inside voice’!
Hope you all have a great weekend, from all of Chestnut Class!
