On Monday 8A split into two groups. One group went to Asda to buy some fruit and vegetables. In the afternoon they peeled, chopped and tasted what they had bought.
Everybody tried everything, with some rediscovering food they had forgotten they used to enjoy. Staff were super impressed that they showed such a positive outlook on wanting to continue to eat different foods.
The other group worked on sorting different food groups in class.
In our PHSE/Thrive lesson we talked about resilience and made a poster about what makes each of us resilient.
There was an abundance of great ideas on how each and everyone of us is resilient in their own way.
8A met another Superflex character called Glassman, he causes our over-reactions to small things. They discussed all about how sometimes we can all over react. There was even some superb role play in over reacting.
They then completed a task stating how we feel in different emotional states.
8A have worked very hard on their maths this week learning all about equal weights. In groups they chose different items and had to estimate how many cubes would make the scales equal. Some also spoke about heavier and lighter and weighing in grams.
During R.E 8A discussed the Jewish religion and what kosher meant. They learnt that Kosher refers to food that complies with Jewish dietary laws meaning it's "fit" or "proper" for consumption, covering which foods are allowed and how they're prepared. They put different foods into kosher and not kosher groups.
During English they listened to a couple more chapters of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Learners then had a class discussion about the different Golden ticket winner characters. Everyone then used lots of describing words to write sentences about the children.
8A have worked very hard this week and we are very proud of how well they have settled in their new surroundings.
On Friday we celebrated Miss Maher’s birthday, she bought cakes in for everyone in class.
Happy birthday Miss Maher.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
