What another lovely week we have had in Oak Class looking at The little Mermaid. We have been very lucky that this week we have had two birthdays, Ellie and Noah’s. We’d all like to thank parents for the donations of sweets and cake which we all loved.
- In our My Creativity lessons we watched Miss Curry demonstrate three different under the sea pictures, one using paint and sand to make a picture of a crab walking on the beach, one using our hands to make a picture of fish in the sea and the other using tin foil, paint and cotton buds to draw different under the sea creatures. We then all had a go at making our own pictures using these techniques.
- In our My Community lessons we continue to focus on our turn taking skills. We watched an attention autism building a beach scene and in stage three we took a turn to add shells and fish to make the scene complete. We then had a turn on the computer at a game called fishing frenzy. We had to watch the board carefully for when the net was over the fish!
- In our My Thinking and Problem Solving lessons we have continued looking at shape and had to feed sharks the correct shapes. We also looked at measurement looking at different sized under the sea creatures. We had to go on a hunt around school to find the pictures and worked together to put them in size order.
- In our My Communication lessons we took some time out from our theme and we read the story of the Pops Family. Some of us are matching character to character, some of us are talking about the settings in the story and some of us are beginning to read the names without any help!
- Finally, on Friday we celebrated children in need by reading a story called Pudseys Great Fundraiser which we all found very funny. We then made our own Pudsey masks.
Well done Oak, next week will be our last week on The Little Mermaid before moving to a new story.
