On Friday, Astley Park School participated in Remembrance Day activities and traditions.
Throughout school, learners were presented with many fabulous activities and learning opportunities to support them experience and learn all about Remembrance Day.
Our Explorers, had ample opportunities to explore colours and textures related to Remembrance Day symbols, including poppies, and were able to listen to key words and phrases, such as ‘we will remember’ while exploring these symbols.
Our Adventurers, explored the symbols of Remembrance Day in more detail through Attention Autism, stories and videos.
Our Adventurer Challenge learners, were provided opportunities to learn simple facts about Remembrance Day – like that we wear poppies to show our respect and say thank you to our armed services; both past and present.
Our Voyagers, participated in lessons learning facts about Remembrance Day, through PowerPoints, videos and stories. We even saw some classes using iPads to research key information – like that Remembrance Day marks the actual day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918!
All learners and staff in school were also invited to join in a one minutes silence and listen to Mrs Chaloner play the “Last Post”. It was fantastic to see staff and learners join up outside and be so respectful during this time.
We hope everyone had a wonderful day participating in activities. Please take a look at some of the pictures of our Remembrance Day activities and check out individual class blogs too.
Well Done, Astley Park School!
