Hanukkah or Chanukah means “dedication” in Hebrew, and the Jewish holiday, also known as The Festival of Lights, represents joy and celebrates one of the greatest miracles in Jewish history.
Today Chestnut Class have been exploring Hanukkah in our creative tasks and made some fabulous Star of David sun catchers and a Menorah - a multi-branched candlestick holder using our handprints. We listened to the song Dreidel Spin and some of us tasted some potato latkes - a type of potato pancake or fritter in Jewish cuisine that is traditionally prepared to celebrate Hanukkah.
Happy Hanukkah!
