Welcome back 9A, how fast has this year gone? We are in our final term of Year 9! We’ve had a very busy year, and have lots planned for a busy last term.
This week in maths we are looking at division, the learners used whiteboards and multilink to find ways of splitting numbers equally.
In My Communication the learners will write their own fantasy story. They each chose a seating for their story and then using descriptive language wrote about what they could see, hear, touch etc in theirs setting. Their ideas are amazing.
For the next couple of weeks in music we will be learning the song “Stop” from Charanga, it’s about bullying and how it should stop. The learners managed to learn most of the words in this weeks lesson. Next week they will try and write their own lyrics to the song.

We continued with multiplication and Division in maths on Wednesday morning. After break the learners  drew a picture and wrote a character description for their story using interesting descriptive words.
In the afternoon for our Community Visit we visited Haigh Hall in Wigan. We had our lunch in the courtyard. After lunch the learners went on the play park. They all had lots of fun, there were plenty of smiling faces.
We went for a walk and talked about how the surroundings had changed since our last visits in October, the learners were able to see how things had changed and were able to point them out! Before we returned to school the learners had a go on the assault course.
On Thursday we walked to Asda to buy our ingredients for food tech. On the way we talked about hazards that we could see and why there were hazards. We decided we needed to top up our prize drawer this week so whilst in town we all chose some prizes to add to the drawer. In the afternoon we had P.E. We enjoyed learning some hockey skills, like how to hold the hockey stick and how to pass the ball to other players.
Friday we had our work experience and enjoyed doing jobs to help the adults around school. In our food tech lesson this week we made Singapore noodles, these have been a big hit with the learners and they all have some to take home. In the afternoon we enjoyed watching a film in golden time and then we watched celebration assembly.
This week’s star of the week is Jake for fantastic, methodical working out when learning how to divide. Well done Jake. ⭐️
